Learning to live a day at a time with reflection is one of the most positive things you can do to be happier and healthier.

It is as important to end your day well as it is to start it off on a positive note. Getting into the habit of reviewing your day each evening with the idea of making any adjustments and improvements for the following day is a great way to gather insight into your journey to better health. At the bottom of your food tracker, you can add a note or check your progress. You can share your day with those in the community. Others can always benefit from your personal insights. Some of the things on your daily checklist can be:

1. Reality:

Have you dealt realistically with the situations that arose in your day? Sometimes when we look back at how we dealt with a situation we can see room for improvement.

2. Flexibility:

Many times we are so rigid that we forget to bend and go with the flow. Is your mind open to trying new flavors and recipes? Stubbornness only brings on more negativity and self-pity.

3. Fun:

Have you been able to find humor in your day? Laughter and Happiness can make all the difference at the end of the day.

4. Responsibility:

We always need to be responsible for all our actions during the day. Blaming others for bringing food into the office will not change the fact that you decided to eat it. Always remember that eating it and tracking it will have a better outcome than throwing in the towel.

5. Perspective:

It is always a good idea to have a clear perspective of how your day went and how you handled all the bumps in the road. Could you have done better? How will you deal with it next time?Growth is a process that leads to an inevitable emotional transformation. Losing weight for most of us is a behavior issue. More and more we learn that making behavior changes comes with a realistic way of experiencing your relationship with food and the world around you. Learning to live a day at a time with reflection is one of the most positive things you can do moving forward. Happiness is impossible if you try to live in the past or the future. Take this day and do your best with it. An aggressive search for a way of living that will make life more exciting and fulfilling will have those pounds melting away. As the new year approaches instead of just starting a new food plan start a new way of reviewing your day and taking steps to make the next day better.
