Hi, Coach Jeri Here! Struggling to stick to your New Year’s resolutions? I have some tips to stay motivated, celebrate progress, and embrace a healthier lifestyle—because it’s about progress, not perfection!

January often marks the beginning of countless promises we make to ourselves for the new year—whether it’s losing weight, exercising more, drinking less alcohol, quitting smoking, or simply eating healthier. We start with the best intentions and tons of motivation. Everyone enters the new year with high hopes, believing this time will be different.

As we’ve discussed in our meetings, small steps and realistic, attainable goals are what truly lead to lasting success.

Why Healthi?


Healthi is a program for everyone. Whether your goal is to lose 15 pounds or 115 pounds, Healthi can help you on your journey to better health. Often, we’re inspired by stories of significant weight loss, celebrating those accomplishments with awe and applause. Deep down, many of us think, If they can do it, why can’t I? But the truth is, everyone’s journey is unique.

Our goals and needs differ, and that’s okay. If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in the cycle of gaining and losing weight, joining and rejoining programs, Healthi is the right place for you. What I love most about this program is its flexibility—it’s like a “cafeteria” approach to health. You choose what works best for you and leave the rest.

From our app with six tailored plans to our supportive community, social media recipes, member meetings, and even access to medication support, Healthi offers something for everyone. We’re an inclusive, welcoming group, open to all who want to be here.

While the number on the scale may be personal, the discomfort of being overweight is a shared experience. We also know that excess weight isn’t just about appearances; it’s linked to health concerns like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and even cancer. For many, weight loss isn’t just a want—it’s a need.

Tips to Stay Motivated in the New Year


Here are some of my favorite tips to help you stay on track and achieve your goals:

  1. Focus on Actions, Not Just Goals
    Think about the steps you can take daily to make your goals a reality. Progress happens one action at a time.
  2. Embrace Holistic Health
    Shift your mindset from focusing solely on weight loss to overall health and well-being.
  3. Celebrate Non-Scale Victories (NSVs)
    These are just as important as the number on the scale. Whether it’s fitting into an old pair of jeans or feeling more energetic, NSVs keep you motivated and positive.
  4. Surround Yourself with Positivity
    Attend meetings, connect with the community, and share your journey with others who can relate. A supportive environment makes all the difference.
  5. Be Patient with Change
    Lifelong habits take time to develop. Remember, every small step forward adds up.
  6. Stick Around, Even After Reaching Your Goal
    Many members return saying, “I’m back,” often because old habits resurfaced. Staying connected even after hitting your target can prevent setbacks and ensure long-term success.

The Key to Success


Don’t get overwhelmed by how much weight you want to lose or how long it will take. The time will pass regardless, so focus on how you want to live those days, weeks, and months.

Will you live feeling overwhelmed and guilty, or proud of the small successes adding up? Perfection is unrealistic, so aim for progress, not perfection. I encourage members to live by the 80/20 rule—allowing yourself a little grace is part of being human.
