What if the missing piece in your weight loss journey isn’t another diet, but the right support? Coach Jeri shares how coaching, accountability, and connecting with others who truly understand your struggles can help you break the cycle of losing and gaining and build lasting success.
Hi, Coach Jeri here!
Today, I want to talk about how coaching can make a significant difference in your weight loss journey.
Many people, myself included, struggle with the constant cycle of losing weight, gaining it back, and starting over again. We travel from one plan to the next, often finding ourselves stuck in a frustrating circle and ending up right back where we started.
A coach and a meeting group can help break that cycle. One of the most valuable things they provide is understanding. Being around people who can identify with your struggles creates a sense of inclusion and support. Isolation is the enemy of success, and having a coach or meeting group can give you a feeling of belonging and remind you that you are not alone.
Before we go any further, I want to make one thing clear: coaches are not therapists. Coaches do not diagnose or provide therapy. What coaches do is help you focus on moving forward. They help bridge the gap between where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow.

Many times, the people who love us the most simply do not understand food noise, cravings, emotional eating, or the complicated history many of us have with food.
I often tell members that my husband forgets to eat lunch. I have never forgotten to eat lunch! I also share that I lost and regained the same weight for most of my adult life. I want members to know that I understand their struggles because I have lived them myself.
While a therapist may help uncover root causes, a coach often brings personal experience with weight loss challenges, setbacks, and successes. That shared experience can help members feel understood rather than judged.
Research has shown that having a coach can help accelerate weight loss, increase confidence, and encourage more physical activity. When people feel better about themselves, they often become more engaged in life and more willing to participate in activities they may have previously avoided.
Think about it this way: most athletes have coaches. Coaches help guide them toward success by providing strategies, encouragement, accountability, and direction. The same principles can apply to a weight loss journey.
Finding a good eating plan is only half the battle.
There are countless plans that can help people lose weight. Some individuals can choose a plan, follow it, and achieve success on their own. However, many people struggle with cravings, food noise, emotional eating, or discouragement when progress slows down.
When a setback happens, they often give up and find themselves right back in the cycle of losing and gaining.
This is where coaching can make a difference.
A weight loss coach can help you:

I personally had a wonderful coach who made all the difference for me. That experience helped shape the coach I am today.
Because I have been through many of the same struggles, I can relate to members in a meaningful way. Through honesty and shared experience, I strive to provide guidance, encouragement, and hope.
One of the most powerful discoveries people make is realizing they are not alone. Many successful members have told me that attending meetings and working with a coach was the key to their success.
I truly love being a coach. I get to watch members grow, gain confidence, and discover their own strength. Their progress inspires me just as much as I hope my guidance inspires them.
Everyone wants to be strong and self-reliant. But if you feel like you are drowning, why not reach out for support?
Coaching and meetings may not be for everyone, but the support, hope, accountability, and guidance they provide can help you find the path that works for you.
Most members find it helpful to share this part of their lives with people who truly understand what they are going through. Meetings and coaching have a long history of helping people create meaningful and lasting change.
Many of us feel lonely when we believe nobody understands our struggles. Discovering that others share similar experiences can ease that loneliness and provide comfort and motivation.
Accepting support and being willing to listen can only benefit you in the long run. The more you share, the more you learn about yourself. And the more insight you gain, the better equipped you become to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle for years to come.
